I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you and your child to a new year at Forge Road Elementary School. I am looking forward to working with you and your child throughout this coming year, which promises to be full of many new experiences and challenges. In order to make the year a successful one, teamwork and cooperation is required by all. It is my goal as your child’s teacher to help him/her become a confident learner, and I will do my best to make this year a positive experience for your child. I have a twelve-year old son who will be entering his second year of Middle School this school year. We enjoyed our summer by playing with friends, visitng Hersheypark and Knoebles, swimming, traveling, hiking, camping, and kayaking. We also enjoyed a family vacation to Disney this summer as well. Our animals also keep us busy and fill our hearts with unconditional love. We have 2 cats named Gus and Geronimo and an English Bulldog mixed with a chocolate lab named Coco. In my spare time I enjoy reading, camping, sporting events, and playing with my son and animals. My favorite foods are chicken, pizza, and chocolate cake with peanut butter icing.
Joining me again this year is Mrs. Beth Hoy who is also gearing up for another exciting school year. She brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise after working with students of various levels and needs for over 15 years! She currently resides in Palmyra with her husband. Her daughter is also a teacher and her son graduated from Robert Morris University last spring. Mrs. Hoy enjoys reading, cooking, traveling, trying new restaurants, and spending time with her family. Her favorite foods are chocolate tasty cakes, shrimp tacos, and a good cheeseburger.
Also joining our classroom this year is Shannon Neiger as a one-on-one and additional support within our classroom.
We will also have a Lebanon Valley College student join us for her student teaching experience in the Fall. Erika Tries will join at us in October.
I have included an outline of routines and expectations for this year. Please read through the information with your child and keep it for future reference. Additional information and resources are located on my website.
I look forward to working in partnership with you throughout the coming year and I am confident that together we can provide the support and encouragement needed to help your child excel. If you have any questions now or anytime in the future, please feel free to contact me at tara_garber@pasd.us or call the school at (717) 838-1331 (ext. 1402).
