As long as he can remember, Mr. Naughton has loved all things history and social studies. From a young age he loved drawing on maps, creating stories, and his family genealogy, which bloomed into a love of history.

Mr. Naughton grew up in Myerstown PA and graduated from ELCO High School in 2014, then earned his bachelor's degree in social studies education at Shippensburg University in 2018. He recently completed his Master of Arts in History from Slippery Rock University in 2024, as an award-winning and twice-published historian. Some of his most passionate research fields were Urban American History (including a published study of a historically black church in Pittsburgh linked here), Medieval history and the Crusades, and ancient Greece and Rome.

For 5 years, he taught 7th grade Ancient Civilizations at East Pennsboro Area Middle School before being hired to teach social studies at Palmyra in 2023. Today, Mr. Naughton enjoys teaching a range of in-person courses at PHS and online courses at Cougar Academy spanning all periods of history and social studies, including Ancient and American history.

In his free time, Mr. Naughton loves watching nerdy movies and TV, reading books both historical and fictional, playing board or video games with friends, traveling the world, and spending time with his fiancée and loved ones.
