Pine Street and Forge Road Elementary participated in the Math 24 Tournament at the IU13 on May 13th. Team members representing Palmyra included Wylden Conklin, Madison Conard, Eviana Reed, Athena Leon, Aastik Shrestha, Everett Ross, Xavier Beaner, and Riley Lamoureux. Our two alternates, who practiced alongside this team and were ready to jump in if needed, were Charlotte Fulk and Annalise Abreu-Garcia.
The team members had a successful day, while Xavier Beaner was recognized as a "table winner!"
Math 24 benefits students by significantly improving their basic math skills, particularly mental math, through a fun and engaging format that challenges them to quickly combine four given numbers using any operation to reach the target answer of 24, thus enhancing their problem-solving abilities, number sense, and critical thinking skills while making math practice more enjoyable. We hope to compete again next year!
