Congratulations to Riley Zettlemoyer for a Successful Freshmen year on Palmyra’s 1st Girls Wrestling Team. Riley’s record for the season was 13:12.

Riley was a solo female wrestler in her 7th & 8th grade year competing on the Middle School Boys team. She is a trailblazer in the sport and the reason that Palmyra approved a Girls Wrestling Team. As a 9th grader she Dual Rostered on the MS Boys team and the HS Girls Team. She claimed the 108 weight class as the only female to be a starter on MS Varsity Wrestler.

Riley competed in the full boys season as the MS Varsity 108 weight class and additional all-girls tournaments that took place mainly on Sundays. Her hard work and dedication paid off when she secured a 5th place medal at Pensylvannia’s Central Regional Girls Tournament and qualified for the Pennsylvania MyHouse State Championship. Despite being eliminated in the 3rd round, she gained the recognition of being in the top 20 in the State for the 106 lb weight class. Riley competed a week later in the Girls Keystone State Tournament at IUP and brought home a 7th place medal in the 105 lb weight class. Riley is our first female wrestler to represent Palmyra at this level of competition.
